Katie & Steve’s Stowe Vermont Wedding

Back in December when Boston wedding photographer Katie Noble asked me to be her wedding planner, I was honored. Katie photographed my wedding and it was such a joy to be a part of hers. She and her fiance Steve got married on a beautiful June day in Stowe Vermont, at a private home located directly next to her parents house. The site was stunning, with a perfect view of Stowe Mountain (the couple are big skiers), clean Vermont air, rolling hills and starry skies. We planned the wedding in six months, and with the help of crafty Katie, Steve and the artistic Noble family – we created a stunning day full of love and all things beautiful!

Katie’s mom (an artist herself) created a fantastic branch chandelier and beautiful watercolor invitations, while her dad cut birch branches, landscaped, strung lights and lanterns and created 2 beautiful fabric arbors. Katie’s DIY details were impeccable: from her hand stenciled “love” napkins, to her day of paper, signage and seating chart, I’m pretty sure the entire family should work for Whim 😉 Oh, and what’s more? There was a choreographed flash mob at the wedding, planned by their amazing wedding party!! And a tear jerker speech from the best man.  Guests enjoyed a yummy menu of seasonal Vermont cuisine, and then danced late into the evening to the band, only stopping for a nostalgic snack: warm chocolate chip cookies and milk.

Katie and Steve, you two are such a fun and genuinely caring couple and I couldn’t be happier for you both. Katie, you always take such lovely photos of other peoples precious moments, so it was wonderful to see you in the midst of your own. Cheers and congrats!

Willowdale Estate Wedding: Floral Design for Sara & Justin!

Ok, this blog is long overdue.  Last September, we had the privilege of being a part of a wedding for one of the coolest couples EVER.  Sara and Justin’s Willowdale Estate Wedding was a beautiful summer day, and it couldn’t have been more amazing. We loved the couple from the moment we met them. Sara is a nurse and Justin is a doctor. They both shared a love for Pike’s Place Market in Seattle (Justin’s from that area) and Sara’s wedding planning binder blew our minds! 😉  We talked floral design and learned about her love for all things anemones, ranunculus, burlap and pinterest.  Justin was liking the idea of ferns for his pin-on, since ferns were the official green of his hometown. And his mom was a florist. We just adored them.  Later in the summer, we took Sara and her mom (LOVE HER!) to the flower market in early August to pick flowers for the big day. It was so much fun, we wanted to hang out with them forever.  And, they invited us to stay for their cocktail hour at the wedding – could this couple get any better? UM..actually.. YES they on!

On the wedding day, Moira arranged the flowers. As soon as I walked into the studio, I screamed. I just knew in my heart Sara would love everything.  Moira had wrapped our farm bottles in burlap and packed our burlap table runners for the big day. The flowers were bright shades of purples, greens and yellows.

When we got to the wedding, Sara was enjoying every minute of the big day and was overjoyed when she saw the flowers. And at the same time, we just LOVED seeing all the little details Sara did herself (check out the adorable burlap banners!) and her dress was phenomenal.  We were thrilled to grab a bacon wrapped scallop or two and a hug from the couple before we headed home for the night.  The next morning, we got a call from Sara – a long and loving message about how wonderful the flowers were. We couldn’t believe she went above and beyond to call us on the day after her wedding! So yes, this couple truly couldn’t get any better.  Wait, they could.  Now, even a year later, Sara is constantly supporting Whim and checking in.  She stopped in and bought a centerpiece during our Thanksgiving flower sale & food drive, wrote a Yelp review that brought us to tears AND sent us a text to check in after the Boston Marathon bombings.

Justin + Sara – this blog may be long overdue, but what’s even more overdue?  A dinner or drink together soon!!  xoxoxo  – Nat & Moira

Gore Place Wedding | Garden Elegance & Food Truck Love for Jess & Patrick

Meeting Jess and Patrick was like a breath of fresh air. They came to our studio at the recommendation of their planner, Kelli from Swank Events . We met in May to talk flowers for their August Gore Place Wedding, in Waltham.

Jess, Patrick and Jess’s mom (who was in from Cali) came to the studio. We instantly loved their laid back vibe. Patrick was such a great sport too, making jokes and sweetly teasing the girls. (Or wait, were we teasing him?) That particular day our studio was s filled with flowers for a wedding, so we “oohed” and “ahhed” over the blooms. The couple wasn’t sure what they wanted for flowers, but they knew they wanted something simple, rustic and fun. Their ceremony was in a huge field, with cocktail hour in the garden, and reception at the carriage house. And here’s what we loved most – they worked with Kelli to plan alfresco dining outside the carriage house…with a food truck. Moira instantly knew we had to do market lights around the tables and a variety of beautiful garden flowers. Moira took Jess and her mom to the market in July. They had a blast!

Jess and Patrick are such genuine people. A few days before the wedding, Patrick called to ask for another pin-on.  At the end of the call, he asked: “Will we get to see you at the wedding?  We definitely want you guys to stay for cocktail hour!” On the big day, Moira and I were hesitant to grab a drink in the middle of the party. Until we saw Jess’s mom, who hugged us and said, “Get in there! Get a drink! Jess and Patrick want to see you!” That settled it. We grabbed a drink, not really expecting the couple to have a moment to say hi to us. As soon we walked in, they came over to us as relaxed as ever, gave us big hugs and said,”Thank you so much for coming. And thank you for everything. It is exactly what we wanted!!”  Ahh…a breath of fresh air.

(Huge shout out to the Swank crew, who planned & designed the day, with beautiful details: signs, tablescape elements, hanging seating cards, and more!)

Whim Events Featured on Junebug Weddings & Offbeat Bride! Wee!

Ok – so we’ve been super behind on the blog. It’s been a CRAZY month. 5 weddings. 2 features. 168 tears of joy cried for our happy couples. You get the gist. =D

But…we couldn’t be happier to be featured  in Junebug weddings and Offbeat Bride this month!

We are so lucky to have amazing clients who love us for who we are. And we are so so blessed to work and collaborate with so many creative people every day!

Kate & Trevor’s Wedding at the Overbrook House

Here are a few things that are beyond awesome about Kate and Trevor.  First, the couple are both chefs in New England and spent the summer cooking on Nantucket. Secondly, they actually prepared all of the delicious food for their own wedding (as if they didn’t have enough to think about!) with local ingredients from their favorite local vendors .  And thirdly, they had their yoga instructor marry them. Totally. freaking. cool.  Oh and did we mention they got married at one of our favorite venues on the planet, the Overbrook House in Buzzards Bay?  We can’t think of anything better than a gorgeous menu and a gorgeous venue!  To quote their photographer, Geneve Rege, may this happy couple make many yummy meals together!

Moira is one of Kate’s best friends, so she was honored to do the floral design for Kate & Trevor’s big day..check it out..

Martha + Steven: Sneak Peeks! A Rustic + Earthy Wedding at the Webb Barn

When we first  met Martha to discuss wedding flowers, we instantly fell in love with her friendly, relaxed vibe and her excitement to marry Steven in the quaint town of Wethersfield, CT.  Her idea was to keep the flowers earthy and natural, with hints of blue and green Celtic elements.   We loved that Martha had already grown her own potted plant centerpieces in preparation for the big day.  And when we started discussing sprays of rosemary & lavender for additional decor, she squealed with delight! But what we really adored about Martha was her sincere happiness and her natural approach to the wedding celebration.  She was happy to leave the floral details up to Moira and Mother Nature.   So, when we delivered the flowers on her beautiful September wedding day and she cried tears of joy, that just made our hearts melt even more! Congrats to the happy couple!
