One of our favorite Woodstock Inn weddings, Kirby & Patrick’s story is charming, sweet and stems from their family’s strong equestrian history. Kirby’s mother was an avid horse rider and worked for Patrick’s grandmother when she was 16 years old, taking care of ponies. Their families reconnected many years later and secretly set up the two. Our inspiration came from their strong family ties around horse riding and their life with each other and their animals. We used natural & organic elements inspired by farm living, to incorporate seasonal and local flair, and to create a celebration that brought two families together to enjoy a fun-filled Vermont weekend. Kirby & Patrick wanted their guests to feel welcome, as if Woodstock was their home away from home.

We chose soft, organic colors – blush, navy, green and grey – to set the relaxed, yet sophisticated vibe. Guests were invited to Save the Date with a hand-painted floral watercolor card by Cami Monet using the couple’s favorite saying “You are my person.” From there, we worked with the designer to create a custom Vermont-centric invitation suite, incorporating the state’s iconic covered bridges, a personal crest using horseshoes and the Inn’s quintessential eagle, and hand-painted portraits of the couples’ animals. It was truly a work of art to set the stage for their wedding day. Guests were welcomed to Woodstock with curated bag of local goodies, and invited to spend their first night in town at the infamous glass blowing studio Simon Pearce, overlooking the Quechee river. The welcome party was full of wine, local cuisine and good cheer.

The celebration continued on the wedding day, when the sun came out just minutes before their church ceremony. After the ceremony, the newlyweds were whisked off by horse and carriage to enjoy a few moments together before their party! Guests mingled at cocktail hour on the front lawn of the Woodstock Inn, over Moscow Mules, quintessential New England oysters and live bluegrass tunes. The dinner and dancing was held in a sailcloth tent on the back lawn, where they continued to dance into the night with the Sultans of Swing. The tent was filled with Kirby’s favorite flowers and herbs, rustic wood farm tables, and even a horse barn inspired photo booth. The tablescape details incorporated vintage china, a soft blush napkin and a watercolor menu with a sprig of green. Guests ended the night with local favors – a ceramic pitcher from Woodstock’s Farmhouse Pottery, and a mini bottle of syrup from Kirby’s uncle’s farm in Pennsylvania.

One of our favorite things about planning Kirby & Patrick’s wedding was seeing how these two came together. What originally was just a family’s simple love for horses truly blossomed into an entirely new love! We couldn’t be happier for the two!
